Plenty of articles out there give paint colour suggestions. But I thought I’d write this article and give my input on 10 unique paint colours to consider in your home. These are paint colours which I dream of using or have used in some of my projects. There are plenty of beige paint colours out there, and yes, I do like a good beige but I also love more out-there paint colours.
My list of 10 unique paint colours…
1. Benjamin Moore 1680 Hudson Bay
I selected This blue paint colour for my client’s kitchen island, making this kitchen POP if I say so myself. Without this paint colour added to the island, this kitchen would not have all the flavour it does. If you’re looking for the perfect deep but not too-deep blue, look no further. This blue shade goes so well with any wood flooring and any metal finish.
2. Farrow & Ball 43 Eating Room Red
This burgundy shade is my DREAM. I love burgundy. I’m not a fan of bright red, but I do like a good burgundy paint colour. There is something so sophisticated and inviting about burgundy. I really wish more people incorporate burgundy paint colour shades into their home design. For whatever reason, people are kind of scared of any colour besides blue. I swear, as a designer in 90% of my projects blue is always the accent colour. Don’t get me wrong, I love blue but I don’t understand why people are not comfortable with any other colours besides blue. Blue does not offer the warmth and depth that burgundy does.
3. Farrow & Ball 222 Brinjal
This purple is another paint colour that I am dreaming of using. Purple is just so mysterious and glamorous. It really adds a uniqueness to any space as it’s not a colour used often in home design (which is a shame). I love dark colours actually, they really add so much moodiness to a space that light colours just cannot bring. There’s something very sensual and cozy about the darkness that makes me want to encourage people to bring it into their homes.
4. Sherwin Williams SW 6216 Jasper
This green paint colour shade is just amazing, it’s the perfect forest green paint colour. I can see this paint colour being amazing for kitchen cabinet applications. Green is the perfect colour for people who are earthy and want to stick to more neutral paint colours without being boring.
5. Benjamin Moore 2020-50 Mellow Yellow
This yellow paint colour is super fun. It’s perfect if you want to make a space feel cheerful and vibrant. Yellow paint has been in and out of trend over the past 2 decades. I think this shade is a nice modern and up-to-date yellow that could be fun in many different spaces. Yellow is always cute and fun for nursery’s as its gender-neutral. I can also see this colour being really beautiful in beach homes with an eclectic design style.
6. BEHR MQ5-40 Satire
How lovely is this lavender pint colour paint colour?! Lavender is my favourite colour, so maybe I’m biased. I also love the taste of lavender, but recently I drank so many long fogs, the thought of one makes me gag. But, seriously I think this colour is so soothing, pretty and feminine. It’s a great colour for any girl’s room as it’s not as ultra-girly as bubble gum pink, but it is still girly enough. It’s certainly more of a mature paint colour that a little girl can grow with.
7. Farrow & Ball W76 Dutch Orange
This orange paint colour is a super cool colour. Farrow & Ball just don’t miss! This paint colour is funky and modern and will surely add a ton of character to any space. It’s not for the faint of heart, but certainly for the people who want a contemporary pop of colour in their space.
8. Sherwin Williams SW 0020 Peacock Plum
This teal paint colour is so stunning. It’s vibrant but not over-the-top. I can envision it in many applications. There’s something young and fresh about the colour, it gives me Modern-Scandinavian vibes. This paint colour is super easy to coordinate with different wood finishes. This is a great paint colour option if you’re scared of colour (which you should be, but alas)…
9. Benjamin Moore CC-96 Flower Pot
I really like this rusty paint colour. Rusty isn’t the most appealing way to describe this colour, but hey, I’m a designer not a creative writer. So, we’ll go with rusty. It gives me very mediterranean vibes. And I have a feeling these kind of colours are really going to be popular for the next decade, not that you have to follow the paint colour trends, BUT there is certainly a reason why these beautiful, warm and earthy colours are gaining popularity. They make you feel invited.
10. BEHR MQ3-38 Suede Beige
This paint colour is the most neutral colour that made this paint colour list. It made the list because even though it’s just beige, it has so much depth. This paint colour definitely has a purple/pink undertone, which I think is interesting as it makes the colour warm and cool at the same time. This colour is a paint colour that will really shift depending on the space and lighting. So if you would like to use it I would certainly recommend you to grab a sample pot and paint a patch on the wall to ensure you’re happy with how this colour looks in your home.
And that wraps up my paint colour picks!
