Since the pandemic, every industry has changed and most service based businesses have gone virtual, including interior design. eDesign is a way for interior designers to service their clients virtually.
Edesign is more convenient, flexible, and affordable than traditional interior design services. You can connect with your virtual interior designer at your convenience, wherever and whenever.
A virtual interior designer can be of assistance for small DIY decorating projects and can also be of use to those who are planning home renovations or new builds.
Maybe your home needs a refresh, or maybe you’re unsure about how to layout your new kitchen, or maybe you want someone to furniture shop for you to free up your time. EDesign can be the answer to your problems.
Before embarking on a renovation in your home or spending a lot of dough on new furniture, it’s worth the investment to connect with an interior design professional to tweak and refine your plans. Working with a professional virtual interior designer will ensure that the space comes together harmoniously and better than anticipated.

How to find a virtual interior designer
Well if you’re reading this you’ve already found the very best and coolest virtual interior designer (me). I’m also quite humble. View my Edesign services here.
BUT, if you must need more options, of course, you may want to explore the world wide web and interview some virtual interior designers to see who you click with.
It’s important to really connect with the people you decide work with. Whether it’s your virtual interior designer, nutritionist, or yoga instructor. I believe that the chemistry between my clients and I is vital. It makes the whole design process a lot easier, more fun, and worthwhile.

My approach to eDesign
I created my eDesign courses through the lens of desiring to solve the pain points my clients have. A lot of folks don’t know how to begin in their quest to transform their space(s). Many people get confused about which decor style to pick, how to organize their space, and/or how to layout their furniture. Some would just like a professional’s opinion on how to improve their space.
Everyone has unique needs and I am happy to help each individual person who decides to connect with me in the way that will be most useful to them. There are many aspects of a space. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the options and tasks and not take action. My goal is to alleviate the stress of having to figure it all out yourself. I’m here to help you to transform your space at your pace.
I think eDesign is so cool because it gives me the opportunity to connect with people all over the world. I’m a travel junkie (I’ve been to 30 countries and counting). Being so well-travelled, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience many different lifestyles and stay in many different types of interiors. These experiences have molded my own personal design style and broadened my horizons. So it’s super exciting when I connect with a client who is from a place I’ve never been to before and hope to visit one day.
Recently, I worked with a family who was moving to Canada from the UAE. Even though there was a tremendous time difference, we were able to connect through eDesign. And I was able to create a move-in ready home for them here in Canada.

Interior design before the internet or technology
I’m pretty young so I’ve never experienced running my interior design business without the internet or technology. But, I’ve heard stories from the elders of the interior design world of what the industry was like before the internet or technology.
One of my interior design mentors is Kimberly Sheldon. I’ve learned a lot from her and am always enchanted to hear her stories on her podcast The Business of Design. She opened my eyes to how the interior design process was before the internet and technology.
The process of interior design was a lot more time consuming and products were a lot less accessible. The design process was definitely more tedious.
What this meant for the average consumers was, hiring an interior designer was a lot less attainable.
Over the years, the service of interior design has really became a lot more accessible to the average person. I’ve had clients tell me “I thought hiring an interior designer was only for the rich and famous!”. Well, at one point in time, that was the truth.
The revolution of virtual interior design
Once furniture and decor hit the online shopping scene it was truly a game changer. All of a sudden you did not have to leave your house to hunt for home goods.
So this meant that designers could now gain access to thousands of home good products and easily send their clients options through the web. This process is a lot more efficient and easy! Yay.
The luxury of hiring an interior design has now been made accessible to the masses through eDesign. And that means more people can live in a home that sparks joy in them. A big win in my books.
Nowadays, we are all accustomed to using the internet for everything (unless you’re Amish, rock on). And that truth will continue to hold true as we truly entered the virtual era.
So, I’m super grateful and glad to be an interior designer in 2023. I can offer my virtual services to anyone in the world. Plus, I don’t even have to change out of my pajama pants. What a time to be alive.
Heck, I even do online therapy. I’ve never even met my therapist but we’ve been connecting through video calls for years. I think it’s super cool how easily we are all able to connect to people no matter where in the world we are.
So, if you’re located in my city Toronto, Canada or else where in the world – we can find a way to work together!
